Josh3io,

I am in for a drive up HWY130. Here are excerpts from a post of mine from a few months ago:

...Late this afternoon [Monday] I went driving up Mt Hamilton Highway -- I believe it was HWY 130. I got to some vistas just in time for the sunset and to see the light come up on the town. What a great place to drive. And, I hardly saw anyone! I propose that we try that out as a group sometime. I'd never been up there before and now really want to go back...

So, count me in.

How about we do a weekend drive up there and do a picnic-type lunch at the observatory? we will have to remember to bring food up, as there are no food services up at the top. Then we can either drive the backside into Livermore and then take 84 (Niles Canyon Rd back into Fremont area) or backtrack on 130.
I personally think the turns on 130 are a bit too tight to enjoy (thus the 1-2 gears only), but I'd be up for the drive anyways just to get together and make a scene. Besides, on a clear day the view is great! I'd prefer a slightly breezy day so the smog is out of the way.

sounds good. i'm not sure how far we drove, we passed some type of state park up high and kept going for a bit longer...gets kinda spooky up there in the middle of the night!!!

i think those really tight turns are a blast, makes things interesting! what i don't believe is that the posted speed limit is 40mph the whole way...even if i didn't have a girl in the car there's only a couple spots where you can get that fast.

maybe next sunday if the weather is good. if the meet is still on for saturday perhaps we can con a few of our north bay and cityfolk stooks to come down and join us
