Default Fix it ticket question

I just got a fix it ticket for no front plate and no current proof of registration. The front plate ticket I understand, but I feel that the registration ticket is bullshit. When he asked me for registration I accidentally gave him my expired one, although I had the current one in my car as well. He told me it was expired but that it was okay, then left. A while later he comes back and tells me he's writing me up for no current registration. I go, "officer I have the current one right here". And he goes, "you didn't have it at the time I asked".

My question is, is he allowed to do that? He tells me it's okay, then comes back with a ticket? And when I try to give him the correct one he doesn't take it??

On top of everything, he wrote my friend's name, address, and license number instead of mine on the ticket. What should I do about that?

nothing much you can do except to just fix it and get it signed off. also, your friend is responsible/liable for the ticket.

Would it be worth it to fight the second ticket? I mean I had the registration on me, he just wouldn't take it.

if its not a sign off type of deal for the registration, fight it by mail or court and all you have to do is show the current registration

*edit*
you can tell if its marked "correctable" by the cvc code

you can, there might be a court fee even if you get it dismissed. on top of that, it's a huge waste of time going to traffic court.

you could do trial by written declaration, you would have to submit the full bail amount with your statement which is probably about $200.
