my edfc started smoking on me while i was driving and the rear damper section said "EL" or something, i ripped it out of my console right when it happened. any clues to what may have cause it? thanks in advance

no i jussed took of my console and unplugged it. just exaggerating.

Smoke + electronics = BAD.

If you controller was reading what appears to be an error code and it was smoking odds are good you have a short somewhere and the EDFC controller is probably toast. Did you spill fluid into it? You 'might' get lucky and it be sort of ok but sounds damaged to me.

 

no i didnt spill anything into it. i'm gonna check to see if anything is shorting and if my edfc still works.

 

Weird, but i saw that on someones license plate yesterday at my buddies shop.
