They're really only visible when the screen is turned off or when it's displaying a very dark image.

Of course, that's less true if you go months without wiping the screen off

I think he might be referring to the back of the iPad as I imagine the screen is the same regardless of which one you get.

The front bezel is the only thing that's white or black in color. The back panel is a piece of machined aluminum on both.
