Default no front plate idea...

Hi all,

I notice something the other day that got me wondering. I saw a Corvette with the front plate on the dash board instead of being mounted on the front bumper. I've seen many people do this but I am wondering if this is OK? I'm thinking of keeping my front plate underneath my seat and when I park on public street/areas I'll just place it on my side of the dash and put it away when I start driving again. The reason why I want to do this is because 1) I don't want to mount the plate in front 2) The fine for not having a front plate is $100 now.

Will this be enough to keep the meter maids away?

Thanks,

Archon

I work in the city and have done this. I still get the same $25 ticket for not having the plate mounted.

the meter maids must be getting commision, and I've certainly made them plenty of money...

I've been doing this for a while. In most cases its enough of a deterent, but if an officer wants to pull you over they'll tag you for it.

I dont recommend putting the plate under the windshield. If you get into an accident and the plate flies out, you can kiss your head good bye!

Just don't put it on at all.. putting it by the wind-shield is a bad idea. Plus cops will notice more for not having it on the bumper.

Isn't it a fix-it ticket anyway? Last time I got a ticket for no front plate, I put it back, went to DMV and somebody signed in the box on the citation, and that was it. I put the plate back in the trunk 5 minutes after he signed my citation (isn't it evil? hehehe). I don't see anything that would prevent anyone from doing this repeatedly, I doubt they keep records this detailed.

Thank for the info everyone.

I think some of you misunderstood me. I won't have the plate mounted under the windshield..........I'll keep it under my seat and bring it out when I park then before driving again I'll store it under my seat.

I didn't know it was a fix it ticket. Can have it signed right away or do I have to wait for the actual citation from the mail to arrive?

Thanks,

Archon
