Default Question

Hey everyone, I have a question. I saw online a day before a shop that carried a Seibon CR spoiler; so I went to a shop today to go buy it. I told the shop owner that I would like to purchase it, assuming since I am purchasing it at the shop, I wouldn't have to pay for shipping (Just pay for the item w/ tax). So the shop owner told me the spoiler is available but I would have to pay the shipping cost even if I were pick it up in their shop. Is that a normal thing for automotive shops to charge shipping costs for picking up products they carry even if I am purchasing in person and picking it up myself in their shop?

TL;DR: I wanted to buy a spoiler and pick it up in shop but the owner said I would have to pay shipping cost even if I were to pick it up in shop.

If it's a special order I can see why you would pay shipping. If it's a normal in stock item and its out of order it should not cost you a thing. Always been like that for me at vex and other shops including non automotive.

I concur, most of these "shops" don't have much inventory.
It helps to run the numbers and work out a price with them.
They will often flex to get your business over no business.
No sense paying more than you have to.

I guess what they can offer is a place to receive your goods so that in case you order a bulky or expensive item, you wouldn't have to have it shipped to your place and risk having it stolen from your front door, perhaps?
