A little background.
we are remodeling our office. Our plan is to install a security camera system and phone system.
Right now we are in the process of putting up walls so this is the time to put in lines for phones and cameras.

the phone/camera guy came over and gave us quotes. They seem quite high.

Is anyone here familiar with business phone and camera set up? I'd like to pick your brain - willing to pay for your time. PM me your rate and contact info.

look for IP PoE (power over ethernet) cameras. You will need a PoE switch to power these though. And yes the cost is pretty steep for the equipment. Pretty much you just need to run a CAT5e or CAT6 (preferred) to the camera from the PoE switch and they don't need any additional power. And best of all you can monitor from anywhere you have an internet source and some can be viewed from your phone. You would record to a "server" or a host computer.

Editted: I have experienced only installing a system once. It takes a lot of time and patience. I work for Geek Squad... and yes we are more expensive then most small mom/pop shops.
