Thumbs down Radar Dectectors

I know there have been other threads on this in the main section, but I would rather ask for opinions from people that I know and respect (opinion wise). Do radar detectors work for you? and if so, which do you think is the best model? (I'll ask for one for christmas) Has having a radar detector saved you from a ticket? Stories welcome.

They work. Saved me on more than one occasion. I have the Passport Solo2, which is a cordless detector. You sacrafice range for not having a power cable, though I think I'd rather have the range.

saved me a few times. have a v1 hardwired in the s2k and i need to get around to hardwiring my other v1 to the 545i.

i did get nabbed recently though but the v1 did go off. i came up on a cop and the v1 went off in advance so i was able to dodge that one, but there was another cop around a turn and was within a few hundred feet of the first one and the v1 was still going off, but i passed it off as the cop i just passed so i got nabbed by the 2nd cop around the turn. this was at night too so i wasn't able to see the cop easily since he was sitting on the side of the road with his lights out.

The V1 doesn't tell you how many different signals it's picking up?

what detector did he have with him? lidar is hard to detect ahead of time because the beam is so narrow and is only detectable once theyre actually firing at you pulling the trigger or if your detector picks up scatter from another car being shot.
