Smile Rock Chips!

Rant on:

I'm pissed. I had an 03 for a year back in Florida and I RARELY get rock chips on my windshield. Matter of fact, I rarely get chipped windshields on any of cars I have owned in the past. I moved here from the East Coast and bought my 05 in January. Since then every time I take my S2K out for a drive, I get a least one rock chip on the windshield!

It's not like I tailgate, I usually get chips when no cars around me. Today on my way to an oil change (it has been an year and 1300 miles) and the Rick's x-brace install, I felt/heard a rock hitting the windshield. Sure enough, I got three small chips! It feels like the rock felt from the sky.

Rant off:

I guess someone up there doesn't like me for not driving my car much.

Happy holidays everyone!

Yes, it is a CA thing. The big difference between CA and FL is that there are a LOT more big rigs going through the roads/freeways of CA than in FL. With the big rigs, the roads break-up more and therefore there are a lot more loose gravels on the road in CA. Also because of the budget crisis in CA, the roads are not in as good repair as other states. And our roads are not cleaned either, so we end up with a lot more debris on our roads and all these get kicked up one way or another and they all hit our cars. The S2000 is just unfortunate because it is so low to the ground.

My front bumper and lip look like I've been 4x4-ing in my car!

That's has to be the only drawback of having a Berlina! SOO much more noticeable!

Worst place for them that I've found was/is 680 through Sunol. I have a million small chips and two spiders on my windscreen. NO more since I've started commuting north to Walnut creek though.

Rock chips? heh heh...I stillhave a couple of patches of clear on my windshield, but the rest is covered...oh well.

But if you think roads in CA are bad, try checking outthe roads in Shanghai...will try and post pics when i go back. But i've been on roads where the entire sid e of an overpass was out with no signs, and then there are the open man hols covers, and did I mention the ltelephone pole in the middle of the slow lane on the way to the F-1 race?
