Default S2000 wannabe

Hi all,

So I'm really considering purchasing a S2K (most likely used) as a second car. Is there anything I should look out for in terms of MY to avoid and/or what to look for when purchasing a S2K? Thanks!

just make sure that the body panels line up, that all the vins on the panels are the same, and that the car is in good shape overall. Remember, it is a Honda, so as long as you treat the car well, the car will return the favor. If you are closeby, you should maybe try to bring the car to Joey (itS2Krazy) for an inspection before purchasing a car.

Yeah, I did do some research, but none of the results were recent enough. I'm considering purchasing mostly the newer MY... 04+

Now is a great time to be buying an S2000 -- awesome deals to be had out there.

Craigslist has plenty of them.

If you go with an AP2, you don't have too much to be worried about in terms of reliability, just make sure everything works fine and the gearbox has no issues.

With an AP1, I'd recommend finding an 02+ (glass rear window) and an 02 after the oil jet bolt fixes by honda where they fixed it from 2 holes to 4 holes. For 2002 (I think it was the year affected), make sure to go into reverse then first and see if the rear of the car clicks. It's usually a result of the axle nut being under torqued from the factory. I won't go into the exact specifics you can use the search feature.

ap1 = s2000's from 00-03
ap2 = s2000's from 04-09

also, AP1 has a F20 motor that rev to 9k rpm.
AP2 is on a F22 motor that revs to 8k rpm however produces more torque.
