Default SF Science Museum

Has anyone been to the new remodeled SF Science Museum (aka Academy of Sciences or something)?

Just wondering if it is any good to visit. I read several yelp reviews, and people say the museum's cafeteria is better than the museum's exhibits...

And $25 general admission is pretty pricey for a museum..

any thoughts?

Isn't it free one day during the month or something?

they do have free days, except you have to wait in extremely long lines just to get INTO the museum. then there are additional lines to get in the exhibits.

people say you have to wait 40min-1hour just to get inside, and then 30 min to see a section of the museum.

My question is whether or not $25 is worth going.

It is free every third wednesday of the month.

And $25 is average for museum admission.

I've been a couple times since it's opened, but I'm a science museum nerd, I love them. I didn't however like the academy of science. I'd rather much geek it out at the exploratorium. If you're going to have a good time with a lady in the area, just hit up the botanical gardens (things should be blooming now) and then go visit the De Young tower for free (you'd be surprised how much you can see from up there).

I've gone there with the gf. We both liked it. The thing that sucks is that you have to wait in line to see the rainforest exhibit. There's lines everywhere. But it doesn't seem that long.

I do want to check it out on thursday nights. But I'll wait.

As for it being 25 bucks. I think its worth it. I'm a science nerd so I enjoyed it. When I went, it was crowded so that kinda ruined it.
