Or just get a crooked smog

I passed with my 70mm T1R and testpipe... And that mofo is pretty loud!
Volume is not smog related; you could sound like a 747 turbine and still pass.

A crooked smog is calling a boosted car na, or an inlinepro kit a greddy kit. A test pipe can be summarized easily as a oversight, or a post smog swap. That's hardly crooked.

Whiteflash pretty much nailed it. Carb # required for header and intake. If you plan on running a testpipe, swap it out before smog. Your exhaust is ok, no need to swap it out.

Shameless plug: I have a carb legal comptech 4-1 header for sale in the For Sale section.

bringing back a thread from the dead... damn... but you will pass without any problems if that is your ONLY mod. if you have a test pipe, your emissions will fail from the sniffer. if you have header, only ones that pass is oem, dc, and comptech (visual). some have gotten away with mugen header since it utilizes a heat shield similar to the oem. intake must have a sticker signifying that it is CARB legal.

From the state of CA

Smog Information

Currently, smog inspections are required for all vehicles except diesel powered vehicles 1997 year model and older or with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVWR) of more than 14,000 lbs, electric, natural gas powered vehicles over 14,000 lbs, hybrids, motorcycles, trailers, or gasoline powered vehicles 1975 and older.

So any "gas" driven car newer than '75 has to get a SMOG test. My '83 had to get the SMOG test last year and my '06 S this year.
