Soft Shell Crab
Does anyone know where to buy soft shell crab? I want to get some fresh ones to make a dish. I need roughly 24 crabs and would prefer to buy them at wholesale prices if possible.
I live in Oakland, but I'm willing to travel.
Thanks.

The only place I know is H&N Fish Co. in San Francisco, take Bayshore/Army St. exit. I don't know if they'll sell on 24 crabs. Let me know and I just might share a case with you!

ok, I'll give them a call and see what the minimum is.
Also, here's another question. Normally, you would remove a hard crab's "filters" before eating the emat. I'm referring to that white spongey stuff between the outer shell and the inner shell.
Do you have to do the same for soft shell crabs or do you just cook the suckers up whole?

YUM ME! I want some too. Can you guys prepare it for me? I like it deep fried. Let me know if you're going to need someone to come in with you for the crabs...
