Two months ago I changed the oil and probably hadn't checked in in a month afterwards. I wasn't aware how fast the engine burns oil. What oil do you guys suggest?

Pretty much any syn other then mobil1 or royal purple. Both seem to run very thin and don't handle heat well.

I run the Castrol Syntec and paranoia has me checking the oil at the very least...every other fuel up. Or of course before track days and long drives. I guess the interval is dependent on how many miles you drive and how hard you drive it during those miles. I used Mobil 2 one time and I swear that stuff just evaporated instantly.

I can't agree any further. I used to run Mobil 1 for a while and burned thru it so damm fast (AP1). Thanks to Serge, I swapped to Amsoil and it was a day and night difference. Totally worth it imo. Now I run Amsoil for all 3 fluids.

Amsoil if you're a baller, but Pennzoil Platinum or Valvoline SynPower is more than sufficient..Both can be purchased at Walmart for under $30 for a 5qt jug. Burns way less than Mobil 1.

I've run Mobil 1 since 10K (70K miles) without problems (except when the head had to be rebuilt but that is another story)

My car doesn't use much oil at all. If you torture the hell out of it, maybe 1QT in 5K miles.
