Default What did this driver do wrong?

Check out the 0:52 second mark. Can anyone tell me what the driver in the lead S2000 did wrong? I can't seem to figure it out. It kind of looks like he turned in too hard but...

I can't tell in the video when he is on his brakes, as the brakes lights seem to be washed out in the video, but my guess would be he was still on the brakes as he turned in. Since he is going up hill and has rear aero, I would expect his car to understeer if he turned in too hard.

May have lifted or perhaps the steering input coming in to the apex was sharp maybe even a slight toe out change? In car video would help

He was already lifted, as he was braking. Going uphill makes it hard for the rear to come out, just like going downhill makes the rear come out easy, due to where all the weight is sitting.

this reminds me of what happened to me in dtsj a few months back, minus the hill and the high speed. i had no idea how it happened, other than it was wet.

i can see his brake lights go off right before turning in. def looks to me like he turned in later than the chase car, really sharply

On my car, rear toe comes out uphill especially on/off camber changes or slight dips on the inside of the apex. What I meant by lift is, maybe he broke, got on the gas again coming in to apex & lifted again. Just a speculation

Any number of things are possible given an infinite amount of possibilities, but T9 is significantly on camber at the entry and its smooth. Of course without good inside video or a datalogger capturing throttle/brake and steering position, its all speculation.

Actually, this isn't my video. I'm watching other Thunderhill vids to get familiar with the track and found this particular video to be unusual. I wouldn't have expected the spin, especially considering all the downforce from the wing.
