Woohooo! It's here!
The manager at my local dealer called me at 4PM to tell me that my 02 Spa came in on the truck today. Due to the hour, they didn't have people to do the paper work, so I'll go in early tomorrow. After reading the FAQ, I told them I didn't want it detailed or test driven . . . I'll do that with the manager. I also told them that I want them to check alignment of front and rear wheels before I take the car. Don't know if they'll do this for free though, as I'm getting the car with no options for MSRP. (The dealership owner is a business and social acquaintance, so I'm not sure if they will sell to others at MSRP . . . but I'll ask 'em if they want to be included in s2Ki's listing of MSRP dealerships.)
Okay, I'm finally excited . . . it's been a long wait. Mid summer when I first test drove the car. Then, when the dealer wouldn't go below MSRP (and I didn't know any better) I decided to wait for the 2002 model. With the few improvements for 02, I'm glad I did!
I can hardly wait, and now I don't have to

Wow - Congrats are in order, I think!
I'm especially interested in what they say about doing an alignment check. Keep us posted! I've been asking about such things in my thread Dealer Letter Updates/Questions

Thanks for the "congrats"!
The spa now has 260 miles on it
Even keeping the R's under 5K, it's still a kick to drive and a major head turner.
Back when my wife and I test drove the S, her first comment was, "Let's get two!". I told her no way figuring the car was a bit hard edged for her, she'd rapidly tire of it, and her Lexus was more suited for packing around the grandkids.
She drove my S and there was no stopping her
She is now the happy owner of a new emerald mica Miata w/tan leather interior. I havn't driven it yet. She still got the Lexus and we have cars overflowing into the driveway and down at the barn (the Miata and S are snug in the garage).
This board is an awesome resource for learning about our vehicles.

Bumper, as my neighbor to the south, Congratulations. If you are up in Napa and see a silver, it will probably be my wife or I. (It's her car) We bought the first S2000 that Vacaville Honda received, in Sept. '99. Paid MSRP plus some forced options, but having seen one in San Carlos area for $49,999 a couple weeks later I was happy.
What dealership did you get yours at?

Morris, thanks - I'll be looking for you.
Yup, I watched them do the detail and prep . . . stood right there and helped when I felt like it! They took 5 spacers out of each front spring (there's lots of 'em) and I think 4 out of the back ones.
JonasM, no, they didn't do the alignment. They recommended I wait until I have at least a few hundred miles on the car for stuff to settle in some. It made sense, sort of, so I went along with that. I sort of doubt that they will be doing the alignment check for free, but I still do intend to have it done. I'll feel better knowing it's correct.
I drove the wife's Miata for the first time today. Ride is a bit more "cushy" than on the S. The S has more head and leg room. The Miata's quality of construction is good, but nowhere near as good as the S. Sure, it's almost 10K less expensive, but with the S, that 10K sure buys a lot of quality - - saying nothing about the extra performance.
take care,

Bumper, can you tell me what dealership you got it at? We still go back to Vacaville for service cause the Honda dealer here in Napa hasn't gotten that many S2000s in and I don't think they could have worked on very many.
