Hey I need some help if you guys wouldn't mind, anyone know a bodyshop that can work with CF/Fiberglass? It doesn't have to be pretty because it's inside, but my hardtop's front latch screws on the driver's side started backing out recently and rattles insanely on the highway (it's basically not latching because it disaligns). I also noticed that the other screw for the same latch is screwed in at an angle (stripped) so it was only held flush with 1 screw. I was thinking I could lock-tite both and use washers but was wondering if a bodyshop could fix it for <150$ to rethread the CF top first.
thanks in advance GW

As Fiberglass will break and tear down everytime u screw or un-screw a bolt in it my recommendation would be to either,
A: have then drill the hole bigger and fiberglass/resin a nut into there so your actually threading the bolt into metal that wont strip or cross thread,
B: shave down the surface a few mm and have them fiberglass/resin a full 3-4 inch metal plate in there and then you can drill that yourself and tap it so your threading into that,
C: you can try over-boring the hole re-taping it and putting a metal helicoil or insert in there, one like this

good luck! I would recommend this for every manufacturer to do this with there hardtops, but apparently the manufacturing process would be to long and they are to cheap but whatever, one good DIY day will take care of it!

That does look pretty bad. New fad? Hellasunk in?
