Good day, I have owned my S2000 for 3 years and driven it 2000 miles ( week end car). Currently, I’ve been having service done at local Honda dealer. I’m looking for a great shop to service and update what’s needed. Car has 18k total miles.

18,000 miles on a 23-year old car?! Nice! Where are the photos you were "required" to have posted?

May we assume the local dealer has recently done an oil and (proper) oil filter change? Other maintenance items are largely time based and the differential, gearbox, and antifreeze were due years ago and are probably due again. Tires age-out in about 7 years regardless of tread wear. Detailed maintenance instructions are listed by model year in the downloadable Service Manual. Lots of other information on that site as well.

I have no concerns about driving my soon-to-be 20-year old S2000 since she's up to date in maintenance and tires (don't begrudge the cost of a new set of extreme performance summer tires every 7 years). We're not seeing our maintained -- and some abused -- S2000s falling apart and the newest one is darn near 20 and many with 100K. Preventive maintenance is the key -- and keeping the car out of the canyon ditches.

Yes, my S2000 has been extremely well serviced. The Honda dealer has been the only place. It’s has 200 miles added in past year. I had a major spine surgery, couldn’t drive it. I’m now in the driver seat.,truly missed it. What I am looking to do is full fluids flush and examination of all components. It’s going to get driven more soon. My 72 year old body has limits. Thanks

 

Many here regard Honda dealers as close cousins of Satan but that does not match my experience with them. Dependent on the individual dealer. A couple of mechanics at the dealer a couple miles from my house own S2000s and I have no fear of them servicing my car when necessary. The dealer's hourly labor rate, though, is something else! Expensive for me to have someone else work on the car when my labor rate is free.

Example: Get together with some local guys and do your own valve adjustment(s) which is 95% labor. Pizza and a 6-pack.

I haven't been here, but I've heard decent things about this shop in Irvine:
- Position Advance (they seem to mostly do BMWs, but I know the owner/co-owner was a huge S2k track guy and 2nd Gen BRZ owner that used to work at Ballade)
