Here are the req. that I'm looking for:

Medium to Compact
Shoots fast
Good night pics
Decent Battery life
Decent Zoom (10-12X) perferred (can be less)
Must be crisp

Must be purchased at best buy, that's where my store credit is.

Any input is great. TIA,

I'd look at the Panasonic Lumix line. I have one of the earlier models and it's been great.

what's your budget, I'm in the market for the new Nikon D7000, but that might be out of your league?

The Canon S95 is worth checking out. I have the S90 and have been pretty happy with it.

i've used this Sony nex 5 before and would recommend it to others.
-Its relatively small (depending on the lens being used)
-pictures are sharp (same sensor size as a 1.6x crop DSLR)
-full manual mode (shutter, aperture, iso, focus)
-shoots HD video
-interchangeable lenses

i vote for Panasonic Lumix ZS series. I have the ZS1 with 12x Optical and 25mm wide angel lens. It's very crisp and I like how Panasonic uses Leica lenses for their P&S. imo it's one of the best compacts out there.

^^^ Yeah I didn't know what they were up to but I heard great things about the G series. And they're really compact
