Default A Prius backed into my front bumper.

Long story short a woman hit my car this morning by backing into it. We both would like to avoid going the insurance route and she is willing to pay out of pocket. I'm assuming with this deep scratch they will have to paint the entire front bumper? Anyone know on the top of their head how much this will cost? Thanks!

Fight on man!
'03 alum over here.

I would not commit to anything until you can have a body shop look underneath there and make sure the crash absorber and other parts are okay. And yes, doing the whole bumper will probably be the easiest rather than trying to spot blend. If it were me I'd make sure to choose a reputable shop with a guarantee on their work.

$350 - $400 for a good repaint of the front.

Where are you located. Lots of members can give you recommendations for your local body shops. If your around south OC i highly recommend Coastline Collision. They just my front bumper and resprayed my rear. Extremely happy, especially with such a difficult color to match like Silverstone.

sse2k: Fight On! I will definitely let a professional take a look at the damage. Thanks for the advice!

Hero: I reside in Pico Rivera, CA however I work in West Los Angeles near Santa Monica during the week.

Do you guys know how long a typical respray will take? Is this something where i can drop it off in the morning and pick up the car in the evening?

You're probably looking at least an overnight stay for the paint to cure before they do the install. Something else to look at is getting new plate bolt covers as well as a new badge up front.

As another University side note: I visited campus last year, hadn't been back since 2007. WTF, new buildings, and a light rail? Would have been very useful commuting to Marshall!

Should be doable in one day. Ask for $500 to cover your ass since her deductible is probably about $500 anyway, but I'm estimating $300-350 for a respray.

If she's paying for it, go for the complete respray. It's not worth it otherwise (do it right).

:-( Sorry man. Hope the fix up isn't too painful. Doesn't look too bad, but the pic quality isn't exactly stellar so it's hard to say.

Did you get a police report (I hope)? If not, what if she turns around and denies the whole thing. Good luck with this.

Fight on!
