Default Soft top slashed

Hi guys. New posting here. Heard about a great group of guys here and I am in need of some assistance. My S2k got broken into last night, the top slashed in 2 spots large enough for a person to get through. Pried my center hatch and secret compartment open busting the lock and hatch. I now have to find a shop do to the soft top replacement. Any info on good shops that perform this replacement will be appreciated. LA, Orange County, The Valley. Wherever. It will be going through my insurance company. I don't even know where to start to find a shop. Thanks everyone and this is a great forum!

If insurance is taking care of it, can't do it through a dealer?

I am in the process of figuring out if the dealer is an option for repair. I heard that they want you to take it to a repair shop. Thats why I am inquiring to see if there is a decent reputable shop available. What a mess. Thanks for your response.

Call your insurance, report it, file a claim, and tell them a hardtop is cheaper than a softtop w/ labor and prevents future damages.

The cost of the top is 900.00 + Tax.

If I remembered correctly, dealers charge 10 hours to do the job. That's 1000.00 in labor

Well, 1900 and a new top is 2650.

If you have frame damage, then it will be another 1000 on top of that.

Just take it to a place where you know the guys that work there. Get the insurance to put the quote together and cut the check. have the shop cash the check and give you the money. Take that money and get yourself a new top from an s2ki member or get a HT. The price of the softtop and labor will cover either of those options.

Insurance will take off 30% of the price of a soft top though because of your model year (10% per model year old)

Make sure they cover all broken parts inside your car as well

And if you feel like removing a couple things to put a stereo in or something like that and the insurance company thinks those things were stolen in the break in, they may want to give you money for that, so make sure you dont have anything missing inside when they come
