Default 02' R6 vs. 03' R6

Ok here is the deal.... I am going to be getting a bike here in the next week or so. My local dealer has a used 02' blue R6 for $7300 w/ 1500 miles on it. I comes w/ a 3yr warranty, an arai helment, yoshimura exhaust, and looks brand new. Or I can get an 03 for $8000 w/ no extras. I know that the 03 in fuel injected, and is a tad bit lighter, but I guess the real question is is it worth it to pay an extra 700 and loose all the extras?? Any input is greatly apreciated Thanks!

It would be worth it to me...but only you can answer whether it's worth it to you.

If I bought an older model now, I'd have regrets every time I saw one of the ultra-sexy '03 models. You can save big $$$ if you shop around - I believe LakeHills Motorsports in Corinth, MS has them for ~$7K.

Buy the 03, a Used helmet is not desirable and may not be the right size for your head, a exhaust (or just a can) w/o the proper jetting on a carburated bike is a marginal mod at best.

Fuel injection is the way to go, I have installed a fair number of jet kits..,a PITA. Now I hook up a laptop and make changes.

for $700 get the '03. There is some improvement to the '03 with the die cast frame, 90% of the engine parts are new, and the bike is a few lbs lighter. So resale value will more than make up the $700. Keeping it all stock will make it easier to sell as well. And that black and silver is SWEET for '03.

Are you paying $8000 OTD or before fees and tax? Even here in CA, the 600RR is sold BELOW MSRP. Enjoy.

Euclid,

$8000 is really nice for OTD. What is Utah tax? How's the bike so far?

Does anyone know why the black and red flame costs $100 more. It doesn't look nice in pictures and I've never seen one in person. Am I missing something? Or is it just my bad taste as a straight man (not that there's anything wrong with that).

dang....thats a confusing choice right there. if it was me, it'll be my first big bike, so i'd probably go for the used one, so i can knock it down with less guilt. either way, choices sound good.

When I saw the pictures of the black/red flame one on the internet I didn't think it looked too good either, but when I saw it at the dealership, I made up my mind to buy it. It looks 100 times better in person than in the picture. Also this color combo is a limited edition bike, hence the $100 mark up .
