Unfortunately it wasn't me who got the chance to ride the new R1, because if it was, I would have written a better article! But either way, for those who are interested...

that looks like a tight bike but i think honda's look better and have better color choices. Yamaha has good engines but they don't have the same reputation as Honda. But if I had the chance to ride it I would!!!

I was just wondering if anyone knows which is faster top speed the RC51 or the R1???

 

R1 of course. It probaby has 30+ hp over the RC51.

 

The R1 by far......i work at a dealer and we got the 74th one made. My manager owns it but let me ride it. 3rd gear roll on ass end broke loose. Also down at the tire tests the R1 with slip ons was a half second slower than a cbr1000rr full race bike.

 

Even my old '00 R1 would kill my old RC51, no question. But I preferred the RC's handling, and it was a cooler bike.

Looks? The R1 revolutionized Japanese styling, and has been the best looking Jap. bike since it came out. It looks more Italian than Japanese to me....I was pretty floored when I first saw pics of the new R1. The CBR1000RR and/or ZX10R may (or may not) outperform it, but the R1 is far and away the best looking IMO.
