Honda's V6 auto transmission woes were fixed by '04. It's the previous gen TLs that were afflicted. I heard some of the earlier '04s may be suspect, but anything '04.5+ should be worry-free.

No they weren't. Don't spread misinformation. They continued WELL into '08. In fact, I know several '07-'08 TL Type S auto owners who had to have their trans rebuilt/replaced with under 70k miles.

would be interested to see some facts around the trans problems for honda/acuras in the mid 2000s. thought about getting a 07/08 TL, still like the body style and the TL Type S i drove was incredible comfortable inside.

I have owned a 04 TL, 6 speed with nav since 2005. It is quiet, smooth, fast, handles rather well with upgraded shocks(konis). its a good sized car. I see 24mpg ever day and have seen 32mpg on trips with an over all average trip miles mixes driving of 29-30mpg.

I love the electronics and it all works, nav is best I have seen on a factory nav. They have every option known to man as standard.
Good looks. I would not hesitate to buy one for 11-15,000. nice trunk...no fold down seats.

What it is not is a tight light nimble car that is easy to park. I love it as my other car to my S2000.

I have put a set of front brakes on it, pulleys, light bulbs....that's it with 85,000 on the clock. My cousin got a used 08 and has no issues for two years now.

I can't say much about the maxima except it would be cheaper and you probably can't find a stick. My understanding is that the 6 speed package with the brembo front brakes and stiff sway bars was built one in 40 for 2004.

The infamous '99-'04 transmissions had a specific failure mode with a root cause in insufficient lubrication of the gears. This was a widespread epidemic for which Honda issued recalls and settled a class action lawsuit. Before you accuse someone of spreading misinformation, care to share any evidence of such widespread failure in '07 and '08 cars?

FWIW, I also know several '07-'08 TL Type S auto owners, three of whom have 100K+ on their cars, and none of them have experienced transmission issues, unlike previous gen auto TL owners I know, of which every single one has, my parents included.

The Acura NAV systems are miserable compared to what is out there today. Having an 07 MDX, I have first hand experience. In fact, I hate their whole interface. Granted, it looks a million times better than the Max, but if you have a smartphone, I wouldn't be concerned about NAV in a mid 2000s car.

Yeah the infamous Acura TL auto transmission failure were more of the 2G TL's problem. They were all fixed by the '04 model year, otherwise Acura would have had another recall/extended warranty on all 3G TL's by now.

You wouldn't happen to be interested in selling it would you?
