$126,000 to spend; what would you buy?
 

I got this thread idea from this. I know similar threads have been done in the past, but I've noticed Car Talk has been pretty slow as of late so why not make another thread like this?
Anyway, say you had $126,000 to spend. What car(s) would you purchase that would fall at or below that price? You can't exceed the price whatsoever.
I'm sure some of you with creative imaginations will make this less fun for everyone by asking, "How did we hypothetically run into $126,000?" Well, you were given that ugly ass NSX-R replica as a present because the dealership couldn't sell it, so you sold it to some chump for $126k. Happy? :)

I would get 2 C63 AMG's

put it down on a house...............

Option 1:
I'd get an 09 R35 can be had for around 60k and then put around 20k in it and make it a 9 second reliable car.

Option 2:
Keep my s2k stock and buy a CR, then go all out on the CR. Turbo, full upgraded suspension (coils, bbk, sways, te37's), fully built engine.
Two different maps; Track map for ~300whp, Street map for ~700whp (drag)

Option 3:
Pick up a used m3 6mt and supercharge 700whp out of it.
/daily driver CRZ

Buy 6 and 1/3 Toyota Yaris' and donate them to people I would like to see die in a car crash.

The best car combination i can think of is:

11' Boxster Spyder $68k
11' Audi S4 $58k

best of both worlds and the perfect daily/weekend car for me

It would be hard to pass up the ZR1. You'd even have money left over to buy a few sets of rear tires to break it in properly

Factory Five GTM with an LS7. With the left over $60K+ I would buy some nice luxury daily driver.

At my local Chevy dealer they have 2 ZR1's with a dealer mark up to $124,000. After tax and licensing it will be almost $150,000.

08 Z06 and a blower, save the rest, and daily the S for shits and giggles.

man..a friend of mine inherited 500k from his father passing...he got a 2010 camaro rs, wrecked it, got a 2010 camaro ss (talked about hennessey upgrade but shot it down cuz he knows he wants to buy the 2011 z/28), bought a nismo 370z, bought a house, a lexus es300, all new cars...he blew through the money and has somewhere near 100k if id venture to guess.

with that as my heindsight, i would have to say invest. but like others said, i cant ruin the fun...i really liked the idea one guy said about a 2011 s4 and a 2011 boxter spyder...
but i liked the practicallity one guy said of getting a truck as a second vehicle. it would be sweet to just have that money

I blew a clutch slave cylinder yesterday at Texas World Speedway. My C6 has been bulletproof except for this issue. It's not that big of a deal, but it still annoys me. My car moves around the track quick nicely, but I had a guy who knew how to drive come up on me in a black/red ACR Viper and it was pretty ugly. That car just haul arse. I talked to him afterwards and it's stock save for slicks, exhaust, and headers. Sucker just flew, so I'm really wanting one again.

So, my answer would be a leftover '09 ACR Viper for about $85k. Then a Chevy Volt for a daily. :D

This is simple!

I'd buy a lotus for weekend/track use, a bimmer for everyday use, and a truck or sport utility for utility. And call it a day. At least this way I could live within reasonable means and maintain all of the vehicles. lol.

same for me, but no volt. just the rest for track days and consumables. maybe i would get a '10 instead.

GT3. If I could afford the maintenance, maybe a lightly used 360. What are used 430's going for these days?

Porsche 996 GT3 - $50k. This would be the reliable car for track and mountain road thrills.
Ferrari 328 GTB - $40k. I just love the lines of this Ferrari and don't care about its relatively modest performance compared to modern machinery. The engine music is also a strong emotional pull.
BMW 328i Sports Wagon - $36k. I need a practical, dependable car for DD duty.

I believe this is the sportscar for me. Great blend of chassis and power, a car I can probably be quicker in and drive more confidently than even the mighty GT3.

Truck/tow vehicle - $~26k (F350/Ram Super Duty, etc)
For the wife to tow her horses. Gotta keep the wife happy, right? :D

I would sell my Ap1 for $12,000...I would then buy a 15k mile 2008 S2000 CR in Apex blue for $26,000.....And then use the $100,000 ish, for a down payment on a $500,000 house...I win...

Kraftwerks USA Supercharger highboost kit on my CR = $5,995
NSX = ~$30k
Kawasaki Ninja 250r = ~$3,900
Learn how to ride a motorcycle = $150 :suspect:
Lotus Elise SC (used) = ~$35k
Honda Civic Hatchback (daily driver) = ~$3k

I'd have $2,955 left over for maintenance or other modifications. :thumbup:

I live in a house with a 3 car garage, so the NSX, S2K and Exige would be with me. As for the other 3, I'd store them at my parent's place since they don't use their garage anyway. :shrug:

Find a high class lady and spend an expensive($10000) weekend on her and then keep the rest of the money for health/car insurance for the future years.

Porsche Carrera 997.1 GT3 RS in lime green or orange... with a Shark Werks Muffler Bypass System.

I'd rather find a low ($2000) or no ($500) lady and spend it on 5-20 evenings ;)

I'm in need of a daily driver and already have too many cars at home. Throw in an extra $3995 to the $126k and this used car would be my new daily

dude that gran turismo is such an amazing looking car. Saw a flat black one the other day on the highway...so awesome.

With my 126k I'd mix it up with a new, fully loaded Cayman S and do a 3.8 X51 engine swap... 400+ or so ponies in that car would be ridiculous...

Honda Ridgeline ($30k)
Earmark the balance for the 2015 Elise- if that doesny pan out then get a CPO Cayman

Nothing is sicker than a 427 Cobra side-oiler. Absolutely the scariest car built.

I'd wait for the next round of electric cars and buy one as a commuter. Probably 35k on that. I'd dump about 50k into my house and save the rest.
