To sum up. 19 year old kid gets new EVO MR. Lots of people say wow that's a lot of car for a young kid, be careful, that car won't last a month. etc...

Kid says he "swerved to mis a deer" (oldest story ever)

Not saying I'm a great driver. It could happen to anyone. But young kids don't understand especially if the road is wet, the car won't stick awd or whatever.

IMO 300hp cars in the hands of inexperienced drivers is asking for trouble.

Also makes me think twice if I want to get a MR. Easy to slip over the limit and hard to get back when the limit is so fast.

But going 45mph in a car is nothing it's like walking that's all I'm saying why something don't add up.

Glad he's OK, but seriously hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah, the older guys were all falsely stereotyping younger drivers. Right. Stereotypes get started for a reason, plus we've all been 19 before. His mom should have bought him a bus pass and a college education. If he had killed himself the blood would have been on her hands. Why do so many parents think parenting involves befriending their child. That's not how it works.

Love it. Bus pass and a college education....

The thread is hilarious from start to finish:

Kid: Dude I just got this sweet car.
"Old Guys": You'll wreck it
Kid: You guys are just hatin' and stereotyping.
"Old Guys": You'll wreck it

90 miles later

Kid: I wrecked my car....
"Old Guys": Knew you'd wreck it.
Kid" Um, wasn't my fault. Um...a deer... got in front of me....

a few years back some skinny, overly full-of-himself kid (maybe 20 yrs old) in the gym was pointed out to me as having just got a Viper (not brand new, maybe 1-2 yrs old). daddy was pretty rich, but never around I guess. so he tried to make it up to his kids by buying them big toys... (or so the theory goes)...

sure 'nuf, a few weeks later I'm hearing stories about how he wrapped it around a tree.

Hey everyone, this is going to be my first post, I think. I've been lurking around the s2k forums for a while now reading about as much as I can. I'm currently 16 years old, just turned 2 days ago. This coming summer I, with the help of my parents, are buying a car. It's come down to either a brand new 2005 s2000, a 2003 z06 vette, Mitsubishi MR, or if I can find a reasonably priced '93-'97 supra.

The fact is, I think that if you pay for your own car you are less likely to crash it, due to the factor that you payed for it and if you wreck it, it's gone. I am paying half the price of whatever car I get, plus gas. I am fortunate enough to have parents willing to pay half and my insurance. At the age of 15 and 16, It's really hard even to make the 15-16 thousand i need, but it's possible. its true that kids 16-24 cause like 80% of the accidents that happen, but still somewhat steryotyping.
