Default 1969 Gt40

With the new GT40 being show by Ford, I thought it'd be interesting to put up a comparison picture of a '69 model.

So everyone knows, that is GT40 Mark III. The Mark III was the road going version.
My fav is the Mark IV.

I'd be interested in a comparison also, but are there any hard stats out yet for the new one....better yet, is it actually drivable or just a show car buck?

I dont get that car at all, anyone else think it looks like a turd on wheels?

Maybe because it's a Ford product, but I dont understand why everyone is so excited about it..

So far, no, you appear to be the only one. Sorry.

Why get excited? Well, for me, the car is gorgeous, it's wicked fast, and it has a true racing heritage as the top of Le Mans for a couple years. I don't care if it was built by Honda, Ford or Porsche - I admire it. If the new GT40 reflects that, rather than something emasculated like the Prowler, I will have something new to drool over.

I think that's a MkIV, the one Ford is talking about is based on a MkII, I think.

It's not a Mark IV, it's a Mark III. The Mark IV was a clean sheet design, not an evoloution of the I,II, or III.

The new GT40 styling is drawn from the Mark I. The Mark 1's were not very sucessful until Ford gave
the program over to Shelby and many aero mods were made, oh and they also put the 427 in it. The
Mark II 's have lots of ugly scoops on the sids and top, but they did win.

Get a copy of this months Car and Driver. it has pictures of all the GT40 models.
