Default 1990 Honda Prelude Si

Anybody here have any experience with this prelude. It has 135k miles; in really great condition; original white paint in great condition with white factory rims (slight scratch on front driver side rim). The interior cloth is also in great condition. $5,000.00 What do you guys think? Any problem areas on this particular prelude to watch for? All help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have always love the 90 & 91 preludes. I think $5000 is a bit high for a 135K miles prelude though.

You can go to Hondaprelude.com and ask on there since there are a lot of 3rd Gen Luders that use that board.

Aren't they pre-VTEC?

I'm saving up for a down payment on a 94, myself.

$5000 is a bit too much for that car...

Blue,

I have a '91 si as my 'beater' car - just clicked 100k myself a couple of weeks ago. I've had the thing for about 6 years & it's been bulletproof & enjoyable. The shifter throw now seems like a mile long after acclimating to the S - feels like I'm on the rowing team when I pull the 'lude down to second gear

If you're looking to do any mods, you might be dissapointed in the lack of aftermarket parts available for this MY though (particularly the 91).

I'd think a price closer to 3750-4250 would be fair...

I sold my '88 Black Prelude Si 4WS about four years ago for $6,800. That 4WS was awesome and the car itself was a blast to drive!

It had about 113k miles but was in absolute pristine condition. My neighbors used to call it my Porsche! Back in the day when I drove a Nissan Frontier everyday! Thankfully, things have changed!

I wish I had some pics to share but that Prelude was PreDigiCam days!

BTW, $5k sounds a bit high. According to www.kbb.com, private party re-sale value is only $3,015. I selected the 2.1L, 5-speed.

Thanks for the responses guys. I should have given more info in the first post; but this car is being sold from a used car dealership. It has the 2.0L engine; 5spd; ALB model. There was only one owner, and all records/maintenance have been documented and the dealer has them. Maybe I did the kbb website wrong, but I got a dealer price of $5,160.00. I will however offer a lower price a per your suggestions.

My experience of all Hondas are that they are unbelievably reliable. We have a 93 Prelude that is in great condition and was bought after the S2000 and a Del Sol from years ago, plus we have a friend who just sold his 88 Prelude with high mileage and no service history and the car ran as sweet as it did when he bought it 10 years ago!

Make sure it really is the 2.0 liter engine - not the 2.1 liter engine. The 2.1 liter has a tendency to start burning oil starting around 100,000 miles (you mileage may vary), whereas the 2.0 liter is a normal (i.e., reliable) Honda engine. Look on the engine block - if it says 'B20**' - it's a 2.0 liter, if it says 'B21A1' - it's the 2.1 liter.

An 'SI' model has the 2.1 liter engine, the '2.0 SI' model has the 2.0 liter engine.

I have the same exact car - Frost White, with the white wheels. I have the 2.1 liter engine (hence my knowledge of the oil burning), but other than that, I love the car.

my uncle has a 90 prelude 2.0 si he only paid 2k for his 130,000 miles. its a blast to drive we'll often go to the windy roads for a bit of fun. it feels great and handles well in my perspective.
