Default 1994 Mazda RX-7 Turbo

Hi , my friend just purchased a 1994 RX-7 Turbo with only 44,000 miles!! Anyway, he was stating that it has around 350 Hp. I am looking online and finding on edmunds and msn carpoint the number is actually more close to 253HP with arnd 217lbs of torque. He hasn't told me much but it is a greddy turbo, so i guess its not the stock one from mazda. Please excuse me, I don't know much about this stuff but am just curious if he is just bsing me or could the car really be that beefed up?
got specs from http://www.parvinder.dk/cars/rx7.html
thanks,

If it's totally stock, it should have ~255 hp. If it's modified, then it can have 350. He might've bought a modified one, but didn't tell you. I've never owned one, but have driven. It handles superbly, but the engine blows, literally, from all the stories I've read.

I have had 2 of them, 350 hp from an aftermarket single turbo is quite little. I am assuming you mean fly wheel horsepower since you compared it with the stock flywheel horsepower and torque figures. Hell, you can get more than 350 fwhp from the stock twin turbos. There are people running 10s with the stock turbos. Anyways, they do have their fair share of problems....though not as exaggerated as many people believe.

I had a friend that had just exhaust, intake, IC and boost controller and he was getting an easy 300 whp.

I met up with my friend last night, its actually not a greddy turbo, its just has a greddy turbo timer. so i guess the turbos are stock. he doesn't really know himself the guy he bought the car from had told him that it has arnd 350hp. i guess we really wont know until we get it dynoed?

If it has basic bolt ons, boost controller, fuel computer, and bigger injectors, he most deffenitly could be in the 350+ range.

strap it on a dyno and find out.

350 whp is pretty easy from an FD

I have owned 2...not 94's but 2 93's. I loved those cars and would still own one if they weren't so much to keep up...Apex seals, electrical issues....man what a pain in the ass those cars are.
