Default 2000-2004 Nissan Pathfinder

Friend is looking for a new SUV - has to be under ~$10k and 100k mi.

Kind of likes Nissan Pathfinders, does anyone know about them, or good resources online?

TIA.

tell him to pickup a nissan xterra. I just got a 2005 (newest bodystyle) with 60k for 9500$/clean title. Its a solid vehicle. Gets about 17-18mpg city and in the really low 20s highway. Its pretty spacious inside, has a pretty big rear bench seat and has good visibility. If i had extra cash laying around I definitely would have went the 4runner route, but at that price range the 2003 model years were still going for about 10k$ with 120k on em.

We looked at some before settling on a CRV. They are very cramped. Both in the front and rear seats. Leg room in the rear was abysmal. Even though the CRV is smaller, it felt roomier and more comfortable. The one I test drove rode nice and had nice power. Not much info, I know, but I hope it helps.

Pathfinder smaller than a CRV? Doubtful.. I have an 04. I like it and the gas mileage is so so considering we didn't buy it to save fuel. It's been super dependable up to this point and it currently has 64,000 on it.

^^ I agree, best two girls and a cup spoof ever!

Anyway, I had a 2002 Pathy. It was quite reliable except for the O2 sensors and the rear exhaust section rusting in half. It is a bit cramped for a 'mid-sized' SUV, but it can fit 4 people and some gear quite comfortably. Decent power, 18-20 mpg, can do some mild offroading, and cheap to own..

A relative has an 03 with 220k, original motor and transmission. It's a great truck once you take care of it.

I guess you missed the part where I said "Even though the CRV is smaller"

Just for grins I looked it up. And I was right.

CRV Interior demensions

Standard Seating 5

Front Headroom (in.) 40.90

Rear Headroom (in.) 38.60

Front Legroom (in.) 41.30

Rear Legroom (in.) 38.50

Front Shoulder Room (in.) 56.90

Rear Shoulder Room (in.) 56.00

Front Hip Room (in.) 55.90

Rear Hip Room (in.) 54.60

Pathfinder Interior dimensions

Standard Seating 5

Front Headroom (in.) 39.50

Rear Headroom (in.) 37.50

Front Legroom (in.) 41.70

Rear Legroom (in.) 31.80

Front Shoulder Room (in.) 56.60

Rear Shoulder Room (in.) 56.40

Front Hip Room (in.)54.10

Rear Hip Room (in.) 51.50

The CRV has more room in almost every way. 7 inch difference in rear leg room!! And I can tell you the CRV's rear is barely adequate.

Granted the Pathfinder has 2.3 more cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in and 12 more cubic feet with them out. The CRV's don't come out. They just fold up

Well, cargo capacity is a big reason you'd want an SUV anyway, right? Pathfinder has over 5 cu ft more space behind the rear seats than a CR-V - they are just smaller. Size wise, the 4Runner is the competition, but they are overpriced comparatively, or there's teh Honda Passport, but that was a rebadged Isuzu, and old and aged compared to the competition. CR-Vs and Rav4s are basically Civics and Corollas with lift kits in my book, but at any rate, the CR-V isn't an option here - just looking for info on Pathfinders.

Thanks for the info so far btw.
