Default 2003 Boxster S info.

Talked to porsche dealer last wknd. they state that the '03 boxster S will probably have a 3.2L with 260- 265 hp. The interior, and the exterior will be upgraded. But, No 3.4L.

can anybody else confirm this?

What makes you think that? Honda didn't react when the Boxster S came out in the first place, I doubt they'll react to a refresh unless the S2000 was due anyway. Even though we consider the Boxster S a competitor, Honda may not - the Boxster S is a $50k car.

why did people think I-Vtec is better? it takes all the characters out of vtec. IMO I-Vtec will change the S2000.

Rumor on the Porsche board is 280 hp, the 260-265 sounds a bit low. And the regular Boxster goes to 230 fro what I heard.

i-VTEC would alter the character of the car by the way in which Honda chooses to deliver the power of the engine. Doubtless, they would smooth out the torque curve across the rpm as well across the VTEC engagement point. However, the car should be that much nicer as I would not decry more power...

Sounds about right. However when Honda was designing the S2000, the 201 HP Boxster 2.5, the 189 HP Z3 2.8, and the 140 HP Miata was the anticipated competition. Honda didn't respond to the release of the 250 HP boxster S, the 315 HP M convertible, or any other vehicle. I doubt that Honda is struggling to sell S2000s right now, and they won't alter the car significantly until they start struggling.

Hmm, I thought I read somewhere that the F20C has variable timing on the exhaust side as well not just the intake side.
