Default 2004 911 C4S

I'm going to look into a speed yellow, with Turbo Wheels, 6MT... Looks awesome, but I'm not sure if it is capable of matching the performance of my 2004 M3.

Anyone have experience with a 2004 911 C4S?!! I might consider trading up in the near future.

Thanks in advance.

I believe 996 C4S puts out 320hp.
X-51 boosts that to 345hp.

Also, turbo wheels come with the
Turbo Appearance Package, don't
they?

Good Porsche forum (one of the
best I would say):

I don't know what the X-51 package consist of, but I think HP was around 355.

Turbo wheels, are standard on the 2004's I think.

I just came across Rennlist.com too. Thanks

I would not do it. The C4S is 60 percent of the turbo for 80 percent of the price.

Either get a used turbo or a new 997 S.

For what it's worth I've read that turbos are cheaper to insure than regular 911's. I pay 64 a month for full 100/300 coverage on my turbo. Granted, I own it outright and I register it at some property in the country .. but still ...

I agree. If you're going for a P car then go for the Turbo.

Your M3 might keep up speed wise but once it comes to handling the C4 will out handle the M3.

Unless you get a real good deal on it, I would not do it. You may want to look at the anniversary edition that came out it has the 345 hp & turbo nose standard, not to mention chromed (or in Porsche's case hi gloss) rims. They were originally going for $95K+, but I have heard of people getting them for like $65K. Best deal out there if you can still find one. Not sure if you want the X51 package, while it is 345 hp it pushes the torque curve up. Tests indicated the reduction in time was like .1 sec 0-60 & .2 sec. in the 1/4 mi. Not worth the $12K they were trying to charge. The C4S was a slower the the other Carrera brethren. It has the widebody & the AWD adding about 200 lbs. to the standard 911. With my 911 (regular Carrera) I ran with my friends M3 (02' 6 speed) dead even numerous times up at Palmdale. I mean dead even. The C4S is probably the best looking Carrera but also the slowest (especially the tiptronic).
