2004 WRX STi
The STi is a very fun car to drive, comfortable too. For your situation, I think you'll be very happy with an STi. It's easy to keep tame with the baby on board, and you can have a blast when driving alone. Handles like a dream. Sh8t, now I want one too.

evo is better in handling, if you think the s2k is fun to drive and rate it 10 on a scale from 1-10, i would rate the evo8 at 9.5 and sti at 7.5. imo i would test drive the sti and evo, i owned both got rid of the sti and the evo, i was offered more than what i pd for after using it for 3 months.

i agree, subby is a great company, that being said, get a EVO MR 9. one test drive and you'll understand.
After researching both cars extensively the last year or so I removed the Evo from my list of possible S2K replacements. Mitsubishi's are just way too trouble prone. STI's on the other hand appear to be almost as reliable as Honda's. IMO. Family members of mine currently own a WRX , Forester, Forester Turbo, WRX Wagon, and a Legacy wagon. No problems with any of them. My son however has a heavily modified Eclipse GSX Turbo with about $30k into it. That piece of crap breaks down more than anything this side of a 1970's Lotus. And that's not why I changed my mind about the EVO, take a peek at Car&Drivers 40k test of a 2003 model year a while back.
