Default 2005 RSX Refresh - Pics + More HP

Pics are courtesy of xblindvisionx from ClubRSX who obtained snaps of the 2005 RSX Brochure.

2005 RSX A-Spec:

Specs from the Brochure:

2.0 liters
210hp@7800
143torque@7000
redline 8100
compression ratio 11.0
stabilizer bars(front/back) 26.5mm/21mm
17/7 aluminum-alloy

Gear Ratio:
1st:3.27
2nd:2.13
3rd:1.52
4th:1.15
5th:0.92
6th:0.74
Final Drive: 4.77

Weight 2840lbs

New Colors: Blaze Orange Metallic, Magnesium Metallic, Vivid Blue, Jade Green
Returning Colors: Milano Red, Satin Silver Metallic, Premium White Pearl, Nighthawk Black Pearl

Redline has been increased, runs close to the 2004 S2000 redline now. (8100 rpms, versus 8200 on the S2000).

Supposedly the leather quality is better (RSX leather sucked in the old cars), with new seats that have better bolstering. Gauges look a little different than previous years, with a white background that turns red at night.

There's also supposedly a dual stage intake manifold ala the TL/CL Type S that gives the RSX a much better torque curve. The new final drive is from the JDM Integra Type R which makes people think that the car should be able to pull low 14s in the 1/4 mile (???). The JDM ITR pulls a 14 flat in the 1/4 mile with 220hp.

The stabilizer bars are also thicker which should add to the handling characteristics of the car.

Supposedly will get Projector HIDs, heated seats, and a better sound system, but this has yet to be determined. It almost looks like it could have Projector HIDs in the pictures though.

The specs are sweet. Everything about it looks like an improvement to me, except for the front fascia. I always liked those little scallops in the front bumper, just below the headlights. It gave the RSX a distinctive front end, even with that boring U-shaped grille. Now it looks like every other Acura from the front. It still looks good, just not as interesting as it did before.

I like every change they made on it . But 2840 is kind of heavy for a RSX, isn't it? Thats heavier than my S2k! I doubt it will pull low 14's, especially with the 17's on it.

I agree somewhat. I miss the "scallops" that were on the front and rear bumper. It just reminds me of the history of the Integra. The bumpers look a little boring, but I would still love to have a new RSX.

I don't think it got HIDs, somebody from an Acura parts department said that the p/n for the headlight bulbs did not change.

Other changes are nice, though. The RSX really needed a slightly more aggressive look. I'm guessing that the new, lower stance in the pictures is courtesy of the A-spec springs and struts.

Whats the compression on the R motor? Would that motor possible be a slightly detuned R motor?

I like the front, like the wheels and the seats look nicer indeed. kinda like the old back better but Im sure that once I see it in person, that will be different

With that 4.77 final, it should be a little bit quicker than the 04s indeed... can't wait to see it.

Not sure about the R motor but the previous Type-S is 11.0 : 1, same as S2000. I used to have an '02 Type-S, was nice car just needs an LSD, some suspension work, and a bit more power.
