2006 Civic
I was impressed with the 06 civic sedan that I saw on a lot. It looks roomier and modern. The gas mileage is appealing too. Any first hand information on this vehicle would be appreciated.
I've not driven one yet.
looks like a nice little car, good gas mileage, lots of safety features. However, in order to get 4-wheel disc brakes you need the EX trim which forces you to take the moon-roof.

I have not driven one, but Danica Patrick should be at least driving an S2000 or even an NSX. I see that commercial and its funny, but someone that drives a very fast car for a living probably is going to feel the new Civic Si is a bit ho-hum. Not a believable advertisement from Honda.

which trim did you test drive? is the ex really worth the extra few grand?
DX (base) $14,560 has no AC and 15" wheels, not sure I could live with no AC. Has all the safety features inc ABS and side curtain airbags. (Are you listening GM? You don't charge extra for ABS.)
LX $16,510 gets you AC, cruise, 16" wheels, power windows, stereo, CD w/MP3, remote entry. Basically I could live with this trim level. Has everything I want except 4-wheel disc and alloy wheels
EX $18,260 get alloy wheels, disc brakes, moonroof (I hate them), aux/mp3 input jack (I think may be good for iPod ?) etc..
can add Nav to EX for $1500 (I think that's a good price for nav, but it's more than 10% of the base price of the car so I don't think it's a huge seller).
I find it interesting (good) that you can get some nice features (like nav) in a small car. However: no heated seats, no HIDs and no leather. I guess to keep the price below $20K.
I'd almost consider a civic for the gas mileage 30/38 (MT) vs 24/34 for an Accord with MT.
Civic is smaller inside than the Accord (but I don't need big rear seats) but it weighs ~450+ lbs less than the 4-cylinder accord so it may be more tossable not sure which one has more speed the light weight civic or the bigger I4 Accord.
