Default 2008 VW R32

Greetings,

(15-page thread for your reading pleasure) http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3759501

Apparently, a few owners/drivers of the 2008 VW R32 have been complaining of:
-sudden losses of power
-gasoline smell
-gasoline leakage

Some have agreed that VW of America is basically beating around the bush with the issue.

Some allegedly had gas tanks and other components replaced. In some cases, the problem was fixed, others not so lucky.

Some have had no problems at all.

Please be advised this information is not official from VW.
However, a credible source 'phoned VWofAmerica customer care today, and the 'associate' does not see any related issues in the database. Another credible source just took their R32 into the dealership yesterday as it leaked gasoline.

The following picture illustrates what seems to be one user's photoschop creation regarding the matter:

It's a VW, so I'm really not that surprised. That company will never see a dime of my money. Knew a guy that over and over again tried to get his VW fixed (bought it new a few years ago), they couldn't fix it, problem after problem. They wouldn't step up to the plate so he hired an attorney and got it lemon lawed. F*(k that company.

So sad they sell like hot cakes this days. Very few VW in history have my attention and most never made it to the US.

I have an 08 GTI with less than 5k mi on it and I don't think I'll ever buy another VW again. I know its not a German issue because my 335 didn't have a single creak, rattle or issue the entire time I had it.

MY R32 has been ok. It does have "issues". Squeek here, rattle there.
I took it to the track on monday and beat the crap out of it. So far so good.
