The shifter isn't bad but it's not great like the S2000. The main thing is going from 3rd back to 2nd is a bit vague but overall it's as good as most sports cars out there.
If the only way you can have one is to make it your only car, I would pass. I couldn't imagine dealing with mine every day, would be a headache and the car would get old really fast. |

Id love to get an Elise (NA) myself. But Im afraid that any off at the track or a +1 at the auto-x would severely damage the car. The car is fragile.

I love the car, but I got in one (still unsure as to how) with the roof on once. Thought they were going to have to cut me out. I'm 6' 4" 200lbs; tall, but only in one direction, and... it took a lot of maneuvering.
The S feels very roomy to me, even with the roof up. Even the Wifey's old Z3 felt way more cramped with the roof up. I guess it's all in the exact design details: seat height and position, windshield rake, roof height, etc. |
The Elise is a great car. . . However, considering I'm never getting rid of my S2K, it doesn't make sense.
That's why I've decided to buy an Evora (supercharged version once available to the public) as the replacement for my 350K Prelude daily driver. |
My brother had an Elise and we both thought the gearbox didn't do the car justice. My brother used to have an S too.

You're buying a 80K Lotus to replace your $2,500 15 year old Prelude to DD?

Not an Exige, but I remember my first test drive of an Elise. I thought the dollar to fun proposition put forth by the Elise doesn't make as much sense to me as an S2000. 200% the cost, 130% the fun. But then again, I have limited finances, and I love roadsters.
4 years later of lusting after one, and I still feel the same way. Still want one, still don't think it makes sense, still can't "afford" one. If you're interested, you can read my initial thoughts here. |
