2009 Mazda6
I just saw one of these when I passed by a Mazda dealer, didn't have time to stop in and take a look though.
What are your thoughts??
I think it's sharper looking than the new Acura TL/TSX. $33,000 gets a fully loaded Mazda6 S Grand Touring. Navi, Bose, SmartKey entry/start-stop button, HID's, LED Taillights, Blindspot monitoring, etc. V6 gets over 270HP and mated to a 6 speed automatic. I know it's FWD, but a lot of people don't mind FWD cars. Too bad no 6 speed manual with the V6. And the V6 gas mileage could be better, rated 17/26 I believe.

I checked one out yesterday. Looks pretty good in person but the interior isn't as nice as an Accord, in my opinion, in looks or in touch. Exterior is definitely nicest of any of the cars in its class - no contest.
The same dealership had a new Maxima and, in person, the car is much sharper looking than in photos. The interior was quite nice and the exterior was also very good. The fenders have quite obvious bulges (a la GT-R) that are both subtle and yet aggressive at the same time. Much nicer in person, to me...

I swung back and was able to go over one fairly thoroughly. As JonBoy said, some of the materials aren't the nicest, some hard plastics here and there. The big rear deck area (up behind the rear seat, by the rear window) was all hard plastics. But I thought the design was very nice and everything seemed well put together. I don't like the jog dials that the Accords have in them with getting navigation. I have the same system in my Acura MDX right now. Would much rather have a touch screen.
The drive was very smooth, car felt composed and nimble, for a FWD sedan. The transmission was quick with its shifts and felt responsive. Brakes were firm, and steering felt balanced. Again, relative to FWD sedans. For $33K (MSRP) this sedan would easily win for me. There are other FWD sedans that could be better, Maxima, new TL, etc, but they're also likely pricier than this is.
I wish Mazda would do a Mazdaspeed6 again.
