I don't like the placement of the intercooler but That car has got to be a blast to drive.

that is one horrible looking torque curve after the turbo!!!
look at the stock one, nice and flat then check out the turbo torque curve...

the curves are unreliable: the torque/hp cross at different points stock vs. turbo, and the stock lines cross more than once!!!

That said, I don't doubt that it's incredible to drive, and regardless of the torque dropoff on the turbo the power output is increased a very good amount.

One of my friends is building up a race-only Mini, but he started with the S model. Otherwise I think he would've been interested in that. BTW, what's up with the intercooler being there?

Not yet. Turbo Civics get 200 whp for a little more than half that price. But, the speed of adoption and modifications for the new Mini has been amazing - especially considering what a crap engine it comes with factory.
