Default 2011 Nissan Sentra S - 87$ a month

Saw this on slickdeals...
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2451671

I don't need a car right now but this is still tempting for me.
My experience of used cars has taught me that it costs atleast 2000$ a year (cost of car + maintenance)

At 87$ a month this is $3132 for three years!
There is no used car you could buy that will cost <3000$ and guarantee no major maintenance for 3 years!

Thoughts?

Very slick deal OP. This seems like a great winter beater for someone.

Ah, reading into the thread some more, it looks like the OP in that thread made a mistake. There is no 2500 off for lease making this car about 6000 for 3 years...

Even then at ~150$ a month, my 05 Sentra 1.8S was a great own. Got great mileage, was peppy for its class, and compared to the civic and camry, you could really wring that thing around some corners. I used to have a blast delivering pizzas in it, because it really liked to be tossed around. I had one very odd problem with it at 29K miles... the reverse went out but Nissan took care of me no questions asked. A day later I had a brand new (not rebuilt) tranny. I literally have spent more on maintenance on my S (tires, oils) in one year, than I spent in 4.5 years owning my sentra

I called a local Nissan dealership and spoke to a salesman about this lease; he asked for the link to the website, I gave it to him, and he called me back a few minutes later to say that this can't be real. The cheapest they were willing to go was $139+tax/mo. I'm not even looking into getting a new car. I just thought if it were really >$100/mo, my +1 could replace her Cobalt with one, but I guess not.

Thanks for checking up. Would have been worth it at 87 as a beater...

You called ONE dealership and expected them to tell you "oh sure, we can do that!"

I'd suggest if you want this price, you should look at multiple dealerships. The math works out and you still need to haggle with the dealers. After all, the dealer is not going to give you your asking price without some tugging.

And Vik2000,
until you contribute something useful then you probably should take it easy on bashing the OPs effort to spread a good deal.
