Default 2014 - 2015 MX-5 / Miata

Form the pics I've seen, the next gen MX-5/Miata could be a serious player... 1.5L turbo, 2200 LBs, 40 mpg and more aggressive styling.

At just under 25k, I'd seriously consider selling my S2K if the styling is right. Factory turbo waiting for boost mods!

I heard this was going to be 1900 lbs a while back and I knew that was BS. 2,200 would be decent but if it's a 1.5L only making something like 140 hp I'm not interested. Heck even at 200 hp and 2,200 lbs it won't be that spectacular. 25K can get you an 05 Elise at 1,900 lbs and 190 hp today.

Those renderings look great. The article says 1.3L turbo, though.

I'm guessing power similar to the current car but lighter weight, meaning it should be decently quick for around-town driving.

IMHO it looks better than the last incarnation. I'm glad they redid the front fascia.

Yeah the 1.3L Turbo.. there's a cause for hesitation. We will have to see what the numbers say when they get announced.

I love what Mazda is doing with exterior flame surfacing like BMW does. Their whole line up is quite striking looking and well done. Hard to knock a Miata, being the most successful selling sports car of all time.

I like the look of it for sure... anxious to hear what the specs will be though.

It can also get you an early 00s Z06 Corvette. It's silly and pointless to compare new cars with warranties to used cars without warranties - especially something as boutique as a Lotus.

I like the idea of a turbo Miata myself. It should put out good numbers and be fairly easy to get more power out of.

The article does say 1.3L, although other sources claim the 1.5L will prevail. I'm sure flyin miata will have turbo upgrades ready.

I find it hard to believe they will slim it down to 2200 lbs with all of the modern safety equipment, etc that is required these days. But we'll see! too bad the 1.3 turbo going in isn't a rotary, I think that'd be fun as hell.
