At those speeds, the relevant physical issue is overcoming wind resistance, which follows square laws - it will take nearly twice the HP to go from 170 to 205

That is pretty cool.....for all the people claiming "bs", how do you explain the police radar ticket for 205 mph??

Why did he pull over again? There is no way in the world a cop sitting on the side of the road would have caught up him.

Ever hear of a tree going 30 MPH? Radar guns need to be calibrated on a regular basis.

I got pulled over for 157 in a 70 on the way to Florida. The only reason he got me is because he clocked me from way up ahead, at the end of the straightaway; my radar detector went crazy so I immediately hit the brakes HARD. He was waiting for me about 1mi ahead...

Luckily, he "let me off" with only a 90 in a 70.

Quick calcs: the Vette needs 600 whp (650 at the flywheel) to make it to 205 mph. It's not unbelievable, but it does take a few mods to do that...

or increased displacement (427's can make 600 n/a HP)
