280ZX
I had a non-turbo 1982 in black, with gold trim and awesome T-tops. It was one of my favorite GT cars. At the time it was comfy and powerful enough. It was a fat pig compared to my 1972 240Z but much more luxurious.
Had two 280zx's both were rust buckets. We obtained one that was sitting for roughly 6 years. Pumped in good gas, changed the oil and cranked that sucker up! ran rough, but amazingly it RAN.
the 280zx is the prettiest Z car out there, in my opinion because of the flush hood to bumper, but its also the least sporty...

The 280ZX is great for what it is - a GT car. It also has a classic look of all the early Zs - long hood, short rear deck, a great stance. The interior of the ZX was top notch and loaded with features as was the trend of that time - there weren't many "pure" sports cars in the 80s, which is why the Miata was such a big deal when it arrived.
There's a guy selling a 240Z with a 280 engine swap near me... $4k...

I agree you cannot fault it for not being a Ferrari, a Lotus or a Good Humor wagon. Never drove one myself but knew owners; being a 510 Guy at the time, I even thought 240Z's were bloated pigs, much less the ZX.
Maybe if not savable, the OP could make it into one of those Batmobiles like the Porsche in the other topic.
Wow, a lot of Z lovers here. XD
Yeah it's old, rusty, and it needs a lot of care and love but I got it for free (except the cost of towing it) so I guess I can't complain.
The lady that had it also owned a (unsure of what year) Pontiac Trans Am GTA. I've never heard of a GTA but apparently it was a very rare model?
Anyway, here's come pics of the actual car. Bear in mind, it HAS been sitting in a field for a few years, so it's not going to be the most pretty sight.
The pictures are quite big but they show a lot of details of the car. Also, the car has been moved to my place, these pics are from when it was at this lady's house before it was moved. I have a few pics of it at my place but I need to upload them still.

I don't even agree w/ that, it was a cheesy caricature of what the original Z's were. They even had a femal voice to talk to you - IIRC, telling you to buckle your seatbelts, etc. IMO, the 280ZX left a gaping hole in the Japanese sports car market, contributing to Mazda's success w/ the first gen RX-7.
The S130 is the red headed step child of the Z world. Heavy, underpowered, and fairly ugly. The only "good" thing about it is its donor status - L28ET FTW!
My 240Z is thankful for it.

If you want to talk ugly step child, you want the Z31.
What did you pay for your Z btw?
