Default 350Z test drive

Well I still haven't pulled the trigger on buying my S2000 and noticed an add for a 2004 350Z Touring Roadster. Low miles and priced pretty well. I went to see it and liked what I saw other than it was automatic. I sat in it and immediately loved the feel of the leather seats. I was a little surprised that I really liked the whole interior because I had looked at them before (through the window) and thought they looked kind of cheap. I was starting to get excited. I fired it up and liked the sound of the exhaust. When I pulled out on the road I noticed it seemed to have more response than the S2000. I'm sure it was because there's more torque than the S2000.

The car felt pretty tight but I noticed more road noise than I would have liked. It didn't take long before I noticed that the car didn't bring out the kid in me that I was hoping for like the S2000 did. I almost felt like I could have been driving an Altima instead of a bada$$ed sports car. Do you think it was because of the automatic? I really wanted a 6 speed because it just feels like it's more of a driving experience. No offense to anyone owning one of these. I was wondering if others had driven one of these and if there opinion was similar to mine.

This car was black and I thought it looked killer with the top down. At first I thought it had an odd look with the top up but after looking at it for a while it started to grow on me and by the time I left I was actually liking the look.

the roadsters weighs 800 lbs more than the S2000 which is a heck of a lot. Probably makes it feel much less responsive.

He said it was more responsive. It's probably the additional power the engine generates in the lower RPMS vs any high revving 4 cylinder ["low end torque"]. FYI, all the roadsters are automatics, so pick your poison. I think the 350z roadsters are fairly unique cars, I rarely see them. I couldn't buy it without a 6spd though, but that's just me. I can't recall the roadsters having more road noise than the s2k, a good friend of mine has a black one. Try out a 6spd and see if you like it enough to justify not having a convertible.

Not all 350Z roadsters are automatics.
It's true, I drove a 2007 6-speed roadster with leather seats not too long ago.

It's too heavy to have fun with. The curb weight of the roadster is much higher than that of even the coupe'. They had to add so much extra reinforcement to the drop top variant it lost alot of the fun factor of the coupe'. It's a nice car, but for exclusivity and re-sale, i'd say the S is a better bet.

350z + convertible + automatic = very very girly.

very girly? apparently you have too much testoterone, aren't u lucky they don't make s2k in automatic otherwise no man would own it because it too girly. I meant very very girly. I love my s2 but man the lack of torque is such a b!tch, yes it handle great and the feeling and feedback is outstanding.

btw if "it too heavy to have fun with" than what do you think of the supra? I know 350z is not a supra and in many ways it a good thing.
