stang for me. I'd rather have the golf R than the RS.

Damn, that's a really tough call.

My biggest struggle here is deciding what's more fun. Light weight (relatively speaking) or a big honking V8 roar (and it's power).

I'd probably pick the Mustang. Plus, the Focus RS will no doubt be the more rare bird. Which leads me to believe that you can buy the Mustang GT on clearance at the end of the year for a healthy discount, possibly undercutting the Focus RS's MSRP base price. Of course the Focus RS will probably have better resale value....

Personally I don't even care about the Mustang's Premium package. Just give me the Track Pack and call it a day.

If I kept the S2000, RS. If I were replacing the S2000, Mustang.

One fair-weather toy, one DD. My own Rule of Two™.

EDIT: I realize now that this is awfully pedantic of me. Since this essentially boils down to "which do you prefer," I'd say Mustang.

RS. More usable than the Mustang, far less common, AWD, the ST is amazingly good fun, and I'm a ricer deep down, so I love the body cladding.

I need and love hatches for multiple reasons. I like the RS, hate the seats, but overall good car.

But between the two, Mustang GT with PP. With IRS, Coyote, etc, finally a very well rounded car. Love the exterior, and the interior is great also.

I'll assume I can get a GT convertible for $40k near as makes no difference, and take that.

Rumors are the EcoBoost Mustang can be modded pretty easily. I'd go lower end Mustang, throw $5K at it, and then go on a nice vacation (or buy more vino for the cellar).

^, you sure you wouldn't just get the big 5.0? That thing is a beast!

I think I would go with the RS. The mustang is pretty cool, but I see about 5 of them every time I step out of the house.

Ford is like the king of power right now.

Without driving either I'd say the RS as it's just "more special" than that Mustang. Has more panache and niche following than the Mustang. Would really have to drive both and see which made a bigger impression. The RS is probably more practical I guess...
