Default 450z

For those that don't know I ran into Two Nissan Lemons back to back.

350z Track, then a Maxima SL. I've gone through the legal system and came out on top.

I swore I'd stay with Honda after trying to leave.

But...I just read this article http://www.autocar.co.uk/News_Article.asp?NA_ID=217791

Yes i know, it's all rumor. However, I find myself really thinking about it.

AWD would allow me to ditch the winter beater, and help out in daily driving with bad weather. The v8 would really be delicious. Of course the weight of such a car would suck. Any who, I find myself considering it. Even after Two lemons I can't believe I'm entertaining this proposed Nissan. Would you consider it?

Honda, will you just hurry up with something please?

The 450Z won't happen. It just doesn't make financial or brand sense. The GT-R will be ~450-500 bhp, AWD, and 3500 lbs, at a price target of $70k+. A 400 hp AWD 2-seater doesn't have a place in the lineup next to that car, and certainly not for a price target anywhere near the existing $30-35k 350Z.

The most likely story for the next Z that I've heard is the ~340hp 3.7L VQ-derived V6, along with a diet for a weight target of around 3000lbs, possibly less. Honestly, that concept appeals to me a lot more than a 450Z, anyway. The biggest issue with the current Z is weight, not a lack of power.

As a side note, I was also a bit disappointed with the quality of my Z, which, along with the weight, led me to move to the S2k.

The 350Z is already a bit heavy and ponderous; 400 hp would be fun in a straight line, but I'm not convinced the resulting package would handle well.

I looked into a used Z not too long ago.. I really didn't like the interior at all.. very much lack-luster.

IMO, I think a RWD 450Z makes great sense in the US maket. Americans seem to be V8 crazy people. Many buy cars using those factors as selling points. A good RWD V8 JDM car would certainly be interesting in the eyes of the american marketplace... in this case, the popularity of the 350Z would certainly get a boost.

Would it happen? I HIGHLY doubt it. Especially the AWD part. Like everyone said, this car would compete with the Skyline. I'd bet on it happening on the G35 line to have a G45 variant than a Nissan 450z.

I don't know, a 2 seater version of the GT-R makes perfect sense to me. Or is that maybe just wishful thinking?

Put that pig on a diet and you won't need a V8.

The Z has established itself as a good allround sports car. I seriously doubt that Nissan will shave 350lbs off the next Z. Doing that will make the car lose its appeal with 80% of its buyers (louder highway driving, etc).

I agree, but that argument wont work when the next supra arrives. Also, keep in mind that the Mustang GT is probably the Z's biggest competitor (as far as cross shopping goes). You gotta be able to compete with buzzwords or else, the NSX's fate might be your own.
