CBR 600 F4i. Comfy. Reliable. Newbie friendly. With all the ease of service and quality you could hope for.

If you want a CBR, start on an F2 or F3. These bikes were so much easier to handle when I first started riding compared to my F4i.

Otherwise, go for the SV650(s)...the bikes you mentioned are simply overkill for the street, then step up to these bikes when you have some more riding experience. I don't even ride my 600RR on the street..it's only for the track or racing (race fairings/race tires/safety wired/etc).

I've seen guys on SVs in the canyons, and they aren't exactly slow.

I'd also recommend a 400...plenty fast, but not TOO much power, light weight, and small/nimble.

Btw, everyone thinks they can ride until they get to the track, or when a hairy situation pops up (I've seen it happen one too many times).

a well prepped sv will tear most everything a new one in the twisties. i love mine, but i like my gsxr more

yeah i am with spa. some can handle it and some cant!!!!! those small pussy bikes are gunna get old real quick when all your friends are out there eaten you for lunch!!!! get a 600 and be easy on it until you know wtf your doing
