Default Add lightness.....

I think this would scare the crap out of me but here is an NC Miata (modified obviously, but stock engine) doing the ring in 7.37. He BLOWS by a couple 911's in the video probably driven by balding old farts like myself.

For reference, it beats Magazine or manufacturer tested times on Wikipedia of a Ferrari 458, a Lexus LFA, a C6 ZR1, and a Gallardo Superleggera.

I post because I am bored, the board is slow, and I thought the vid was cool.

Surely there's a massive weight penalty for hauling that driver's balls around.... I'd be AT LEAST 2 minutes slower in the same car. That guys is fearless, the video almost feels sped up!

That said, I'm not sure the 7:37 is directly comparable to those other cars, as this lap's start/stop points exclude the long straight.

Wait! That's a manual transmission. He'd be so much faster in a DSG and be able to "focus" more on his lap time.

Very true. I don't know if all laps are timed with a flying start as well.

He is still moving though.

Impressive lap!

Two things I noticed were how little braking occurs and how much time at WOT. Seemingly 2% brake vs 98% WOT. I gave up trying to watch the gearbox use. And there seemed to be no tire squeal in the corners.

Not as thrilling, though, as Sabine Schmitz's lap in the transit van a couple of years ago where her running narrative is great.

Added a little bit more than "lightness". Impressive driving and impressive lap time versus supercars. That said, this thing isn't drivable on the streets, and is only useable on track. I drive my heavily modified s2k (stock motor, stock ecu & tune) on 380mile single-day round trips to the track and back, and I would not attempt it with a car modified like this one.

His list of "additions" in the video details:

Complete Modifications list from stock:
- ECU Remap
- Full Race-exhaust with race-cat and CAI
- Larger coolant radiator with aluminum reservoir
- 245/40 17 track tyres, road legal, on 17x9
- Coilovers with 13/8 Springs
- Aftermarket ARB front, no ARB rear
- 6-Pot at front, OEM at the back, 2 piece discs (oem size), race fluid & pads, cooling
- Carbon fibre drivers seat, no passenger seat
- Aftermarket steering wheel
- Approx 1090kg incl ½tank of fuel and 80kg driver (Yes, driver lost some :-)).
- 5 Speed Gearbox with close ratios gear kit (Originally a 6-speed) - 4,1 FD without LSD (yes, open diff)
- Light flywheel, OEM clutch - AC and PS delete
- Cro-moly rollbar, welded
- CF Roof (not retractable anymore)
- Lightened & reinforced front subframe
- Seam-welded rear subframe
- Seamwelded door-openings
- Additional bracing underneath
- Small boot spoiler
- Small front lip

Yeah it says in the video's title BTG. That's bridge to gap, not a full lap like times for the other cars.

I believe the driver is Koenigsegg's test driver

I was going to say, it looked like he had at least a final drive change and ECU reflash cause he was revving way past "redline" and it was climbing the RPMs way faster than a regular NC.

Either way he was cookin. I think he was at WOT near 100% of the time.

He maxed out at 129mph. It’s impressive when watching the video, but when seeing others take some corners at 120+mph it puts it into perspective.
