I've driven one when i was in hk durin x-mas.. the transmission is very nice.. short gear range.. however it is slower than the evo7..

you'd seriously get the STi over the S2K. i find the styling of the WRX and Lancer EVO 7 are not as impressive as the S2000. Honda's always had a good eye for designing sporty japanese styling. IMHO, Subaru and Mitsubishi are not so hot in those departments.

I agree with you, the Subaru's are fugly. Mostly due to the headlight designs. If it wasn't for that they wouldn't look so bad. They do perform really well however for the boxer engine design.

The performance they posted is right on par w/an s2k (0-60 in 5.2 and top speed 'bout 150), and for almost the same price you a convertible that doesn't look like i just pooed it out.

While I am not keen on the styling, the rumored price tag of $30,000 US sounds like a hell of a bargain to me. Way to go Subie! This truly is the golden age of sports cars.

The "detuned" power spec doesn't concern me much. Very easy to up the power a bit with some low-cost aftermarket stuff. What would really suck is if they detune the suspension or brakes. Much more difficult to really improve without alot of trial and error.
