Default Altima or Mazda 6

A good friend of mine is shopping for on 2005 Mazda 6 or Nissan Altima.

Does anyone have a preference over the other? Thanks.

I like the interior of the Mazda better, especially if 2005 has the later updated interior. What are the specifics of each car? V6, I4? Auto or manual? Is the Mazda6 the sedan, wagon or hatch version?

I like the overall package of the mazda over the nissan, no issues from waht I'm reading but I also heard those cars tend to fall apart a bit over time (trim stuff, not literally). Both depreciate rather quick so I'm guessing that's why your friend must be looking at those cars as they make great preowned bargains. But I do feel the interior of the nissan is more solid than the somewhat plasticy (... although they're both plasticy) mazda center stack.
If I were looking at the v6s though I'd lean towards the nissan, more of a personal preference.

Altima with the V6 is a good bet.

I love my '06 Mazda 6 I4

Comes with TCS and sport shift standard.

I like the handling for a FWD and the looks, they can be had VERY cheap now since the new body style came out.

My brother had a 200X mazda 6. It was rock solid reliable except for the fact that in the 150,000 before he sold it, it went through 3 fuel pumps. My guess is that model of fuel pump did not stand up well to the ethanol blend requirement in our state.

I like the looks of the Mazda better but the engine in the Altima is probably better.

I LOVE the looks of the new 6.
